Julie Picarello = Mokume Gane

Julie Picarello is synonymous with mokume gane and we are bringing her to Creative Journey Studios to share her style of imprint mokume to add to your repertoire. She is giving a three day workshop from July 8th to the 10th for $390. She will share her Tribal Stick pendant first and then expand into surface variations. Ultimately she will share her square pendant for you to put your spin on.

Day One – Imprint Mokume (palette mixing, layer stacking, imprinting, slicing, bead shaping, drilling and creating a Tribal Stick pendant with a hammered drop accented with metal patina paint).

Day Two – Delve into surface technique variations to complement imprint mokume (screen printing, crackle, brass stamping, carve cuts, resin dots, blank space for backfilling, etc.). Create 1-2 veneer sheets for the last day.

Day Three – Build the square cut pendant piece using multiple square cutters, cure & polish, drill for stringing. We will explore a variety of connection options using wire, chain and accent beads.
